TRUST WALK
Dear Friends:
I write from New Hope
Church Parsonage. The leaves have changed their color and fallen as the
cold has come.
The children are
memorizing from the book of James in school. In the first chapter it says,
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God. On October
5th I went to Texas for three weeks to see an internist who specializes in
chronic illnesses. My sister Sonja works for this man.
As I went to each
day's appointment, I prayed for God's wisdom to show the doctor and staff
what was wrong with us. James also wrote, But let him ask in
faith, nothing wavering. I
am not to be like those autumn leaves that
blow off the trees. I am to put my hope and trust in Him and not waver.
I
had come to Texas to trust Him. He was directing...
God gave reassurance
that I was on His path when I read the proverb: A man's steps
are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand
his own way? I couldn't begin to understand why God chose
to have me come back to Texas to get help when we had just come from
there. Why wait until I had no insurance to direct me to get this help?
One cannot understand his own way. I had come to Texas to trust Him. He
was directing my path and I didn't have to understand it. Just
follow and obey.
Three weeks passed and
the reason for our liver pain was not pinpointed. Again, His Word
reassured me to hope in God. Trust was what He wanted, not necessarily
that my health would be restored. His pleasure is not in the
strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man; the
Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his
unfailing love. Psalm 147.
This month the doctor
has prescribed several medicines. The first has not helped. As we continue
with expectancy, God reassures me again with His Word. Whoever obeys
his command will come to no harm, and the wise heart will
know the proper time and procedure. For there is a proper
time and procedure for every matter, though a man's misery
weighs heavily upon him. Ecclesiastes 8.
I trust Him to direct
us with wisdom, without wavering in faith, as to the next thing we are to
do about this pain surrounding our livers.
A referred surgeon
likened my pain to that which he sees in patients with acute hepatitis.
Yet, because of our prolonged illness, this pain may be attributed to
additional things. CAT scan and GI series were happily negative.
David and I both test
positive for Ebstein-Barr Virus. But this intruder of our bodies does not
necessarily account for all our symptoms either. So what are the other
causes? And why does the pain persist for both David and me?
We ask
your prayer for knowledge and wisdom to nail these medical questions down
and solve our health mystery so we can return to Mexico as soon as
possible.
SUPPLIES
FOR CAMP
We are encouraged as
God moves in our ministry. God works out details and goes before us
charting the path even as we are limited in our bodies. We marvel at His
goodness to use us in spite of our physical weakness. For this we can only
boast in His doings.
God has opened the
door for us to receive camp equipment and necessities from a warehouse in
Utica, NY. Over time as the items are collected we will fill up a trailer
or even a container and ship it to Mexico. This could be the means of the
first camp. We watch in amazement as the pieces come together for camp in
Mexico.
PEOPLE
New Hope Christian
Community Church is caring for our family. The large parsonage is such a
blessing. Come and see.
Our invaluable
assistant, Sarah Evans, has returned home. We have wonderful memories of
one full year of her giving life, love, hands and feet to see us to a
higher level of health.
Here at New Hope,
Pastor Mike Usborne dedicated our two youngest children and David baptized
our four oldest children... all in the same service.
George and Glennis
McMillan helped David while I was in Texas, allowing him to attend some
important functions. This provision came about from what started as an
overnight trip to analyze a boys camp. David was able to tour two camps
and we were all guests for a week at a third, Sacandaga Bible Conference.
I didn't know we would need assistance for David to care for the children
until the night before this unexpected adventure that these special
friends facilitated. As we talked we discovered that they needed a place
to stay at exactly the time I would be in Texas. God's timing is amazing I
David has preached at
several church services and a couple of church missionary conferences.
Several ladies are
assisting our family by giving many valuable hours.
We are grateful for
the help God continues to send through people in so many forms. Tank you.
NO WILL- NO
LAND
Julio died without a
will. His sister may not have the claim to it as expected. The saga
concerning this land that was to be donated for the first camp is on hold
until David is able to address it in Mexico personally.
VISAS TO GO
Praise God! All our
Mexican visas are renewed for another year.
