Pronouncing reka
FYI: RYCCA, the name
of the camp organization in Mexico, is an acronym that in English is
translated Retreats And Camps With Adventure. The "Y" in RYCCA
is pronounced as a long "e" reeeeeeka.
CAMP
HOPE
Our family
worked these past two months in laying the groundwork for the
establishment of a day camp here at New Hope Christian Community Church.
With the 24 acres of beautiful land here we see God can do many things to
bring about changed lives for Oneida.
GRANDPARENTS'
SUMMER ROOST
Karen's
parents, Ray and Marj, recently celebrated 40 years of missionary service
with Wychffe Bible Translators. They have returned from Papua New Gwnea
after finishing the translation of the New Testament Bible into the Saposa
language. This was their second translation work. The first was done for
the Biangai people. They have come for the summer to spend time with their
grandchildren and to help Karen get some much needed rest.
PRAYER
March 1 was a
benchmark day in prayer and fasting. Throughout the day the Lord brought
people to pray with us: in person, through email, and by phone. It was
encouraging to know people were praying with us, for us, and for mission
camp work in Mexico to move forward. May it be so... AMEN.
CAUGHT
PRAYING
On the
National Day of Prayer, our family gathered together with people from area
churches at the town
hall. The mayor spoke and many pastors prayed. A full color half page,
picture of Karen praying ended up on the front page of the local
newspaper. (Husband's note - I am sure that subscriptions skyrocketed due
to that "Cute Face".)

PAIN,
PAIN, GO AWAY
Though Kmen's
paim was decreased through prayer in Januwy, she has continued to battle
with many symptoms that suggest liver disease. A medical exploratory
procedure and a liver biopsy look like the next steps to be taken. Please
pray for knowledge, wisdom and guidance in this matter.
CONNECTION
We had a great
visit with our boss, John Spyker, from Morelia, Mexico. We are encouraged
to hear the Lord is moving mightily in Morelia. We are anxious to be back
working with him and our friends there in Mexico.
SCHOOL'S
IN SESSION
Karen will be
doing some studying. She is seeking mnistry credentials with Elim
Fellowship. She is in the final part of the process. This will allow Karen
to minister alongside of David preaching and teaching the Word in Mexico.
SCHEDULE
We are making
tentative plans to return to Mexico in October. Weekends are filling up so
please give us a call if you would like to see us and/or have us visit
your church to share about our and vision for Mexico youth camps.
