Dear friends,

We made it back to Costa Rica in January and settled into a new home and a new office. Juli and Sarah are both doing much better. Thank you so much
for praying for them. We would not have chosen to spend half of 2001 in the
U.S., but we know God in His wisdom had his own plans for us. As it turned
out, L.A.T.N. (the Latin America Training Network) benefited by our being in
Michigan, since I was able to get my work done from there and also developed a very promising relationship with I.T.S., a producer of educational materials in Grand Rapids.

Ministry News:
We and our co-workers are now set up in a new office in San Jose. Ted has
begun teaching a college level class of 9 students at a local seminary.
More importantly, he is working on the development of our distance education materials. Our target by year’s end is to have three finished courses and several others well along in the process.
But the big news for the L.A.T.N. ministry is the new people God has
been sending to help us. Bob and Grace Tuttle have moved here after a long
career in Venezuela. Their work in administration and hospitality makes
L.A.T.N. a lot more productive overall. Mery Florez, originally from
Colombia, is with us now for 2 months in Costa Rica, but is making plans to
move here long term. Her computing skills, among others, will enable us to
put courses on CD and the Internet. Hilda Fyock, a member of Missionary
Aviation Fellowship, has joined us here in Costa Rica to work on the video
recording and editing aspects of our courses. She has a master’s degree in
television production. Later in March, four experts in distance education
will spend several days with us to help in the design of our courses and in
the planning of course development and delivery. These join us and the rest
of our team working here and in other countries.
The task we face is enormous, but God is bringing people along side
who have just the right gifts and skills to make the project successful.

Family News:
We like our new house, a 4 bedroom apartment that is only a half block from
the kid’s school and a flight of stairs from my office. Health wise we’re
doing well. The kids are between colds right now and are on early spring
break from school. Here are some specifics, together with prayer requests:
James (almost 12): we’re in the midst of decisions about his
schooling. Reading is a challenge for him, which makes all his subjects
hard. Pray for the right adjustments at school and that his self worth gets
a boost.
Sarah (17) is doing better, but pray for more friends and
general contentment. Praise the Lord that she is taking advantage of new
opportunities to spend time with people.
JoJo (9) grabs life by the horns. Pray she grows in her
faith and that we spend enough time with her.
Sam (16) is becoming a computer whiz and is getting better
and better on the guitar. Praise the Lord that his diabetes is in pretty
good control. Pray for protection against high blood sugar levels and severe lows.
Juli and Ted (ages irrelevant): pray we’ll know clearly what
roles we should play at our church. Ted also needs exercise. Praise God
that Juli’s health is fine.

Thanks again for standing with us.
Yours for the whole family,

Ted Kautzmann
