Prayer Update from Ted and Diane Holzmann

(last update July 23, 2003)

Dear Prayer team, family and friends,

Ongoing prayer items:

Martina and Peter were church-married at the end of September. One Bible study and two of the elders and we were group from our church to the catholic ceremony. Diane did sing the only solo in the service. This was a disappointment that Ted was unable to participate. One of the elders meets with them tonight (Oct. 22) after they canceled several other appointments. PRAY for wisdom and clarity in their relationship to the Lord and to the church.

Birgit PRAY as she continues to struggle with the issue of staying single or marrying a non-believer. She has good support through many who are involved with her life though. She is faithfully involved in ministry. Her recent attempt to leave the Roman Catholic church was hindered because her Personal ID card had expired! Bureaucracy!!

Alpha course The home group that wants to take this on has been inundated by doubts and spiritual/physical attacks. They realize that others from the church must join them to carry the multi-week course through. Plans are going forward, despite the setbacks, and it should begin late in January. PRAY for the preparations; also for Ted who will be giving the lectures.

Falk PRAISE that his weekly meetings with Ted are going well. They are just reading and discussing the OT from creation forward. Growing up in the DDR, Falk has no biblical background. Last week Ted and he read the chapters on Joseph out loud. At one point Ted stopped to ask if he had any idea as to what was coming. No, but this sure is exciting!, came the answer. Keep PRAYing for his eyes to see and understand more of Gods grand scheme of redemption.

New praise and prayer items:

PRAISE Several have indicated willingness to serve as moderators for worship service. PRAY for their courage as they try out their talents and gifting.

PRAISE We have heard of some definite fruit in some marriages from the marriage seminar last spring. PRAY for it to continue and grow. Some are not stable or just surface marriages.

PRAISE Ulrike has asked Diane for regular time with her as a counselor and friend. They have met twice and have scheduled another appointment.

PRAISE Andy, Teds prayer partner, is engaged to a Christian woman from another part of Germany. She has moved here. They plan to marry soon, but because they wish to give witness to colleagues, neighbors, friends and family, she is living / sleeping at our home until the wedding.

PRAISE we had a WONDERFUL time with Laura and Alex when they came in September to visit and get to know each other. They seem to have a great relationship with each other and to the Lord. What more could one ask for in beginning a marriage?!!

UPCOMING EVANGELISTIC EVENTS in Neuburg

  1. On November 13, Lutz Langhoff , a Christian magician (billed as Hamburgs David Copperfield) will be doing two performances in the Neuburg baroque stage theater: the citys cultural center. PRAY that the city mayor accepts our invitation to be the honorary MC of the evening. The theater holds 250. PRAY for full houses with many non-believers present.
  2. On December 12, Beate Ling, a popular Christian vocalist, will be performing also in the theater. She will be performing an Advent Concert. Again, PRAY for non-believers to be drawn to hear her Christian message at this special time of year.

THANK YOU for praying. We count on your prayer support.
